Our Purpose

The 411 Foundation exists to support the people of Colorado Springs by connecting and strengthening local nonprofits, providing fast and discreet help through our Speed-to-Need program, and making sure no one faces hardship alone.

A portion of revenue from the 411 for the 719 marketing program supports our work, as long as that program exists and is able to contribute.

Our mission is simple: We make help easier to find — and faster to receive.

Our Board of Directors

The Foundation is overseen by a Board of Directors with at least five members. Directors serve two-year terms with no term limits, and are chosen based on character, integrity, and alignment with our mission.

The Board handles oversight, financial accountability, policy, and strategy.

The Founder's Role

The Foundation was created by Rob Thompson, who serves as the Founding Director and Board Chair. His role is to protect the mission, safeguard the identity and purpose of the Foundation, and ensure the organization stays aligned with helping the people of Colorado Springs.

Rob cannot approve spending alone — no one can. Financial decisions require Board oversight. This structure keeps the mission stable while keeping operations accountable.

How Funds Are Managed

We track and separate all funds carefully to protect donor intent. We maintain:

  • Speed-to-Need Funds Restricted to rapid assistance for individuals in crisis
  • General Operating Funds For coordination, outreach, and organizational needs
  • Designated Program Funds Any additional initiatives created by the Foundation

Restricted funds are used only for their intended purpose. We do not lend money to board members, distribute earnings for private benefit, or mix restricted and unrestricted funds. Our Treasurer ensures accurate reporting and compliance.

Our Commitments

Everything we do is guided by core principles:

  • Dignity Every person we help is treated with respect and privacy
  • Fairness We do not discriminate based on race, gender, religion, identity, orientation, or political affiliation
  • Speed A person in crisis cannot wait for bureaucracy
  • Transparency We publish annual reports on how funds are used
  • Integrity No single person can approve funds alone — accountability is built in

What Happens if the Foundation Ever Dissolves?

If the Foundation ever closes, any remaining funds must go to other qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofits, with preference to organizations serving Colorado Springs, and consistent with donor intent.

No board member or private individual can receive leftover funds.
